Floral Resins

Çukurova Kimya floral resin is a water-based resol obtained with polycondensation reaction of phenol and formaldehyde. After the catalyst and blowing agent are added to the resin, it quickly foams, swells and hardens, turning into a homogeneous and sponge-like material ready to absorb water. The resulting resin-based sponge is used as refreshing floral support for flower arrangement.

For the desired color, pigment is added before the swelling process then it is cut into shapes and put into water. The sponge, which absorbs water up to 50 times its own weight in a short time, preserves the aesthetic appearance of the flowers arrayed on it and survives for a long time.

Appropriately modified resin can also be used as a soil substitute for growing greenhouse plants.
